Turkey, OECD’s 16th largest economy
With growth of 9.8% in 2004, Turkey became the 16th largest economy among the 30 members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). Turkey's national income totaled $295 billion last year. Turkey, which plummeted to 20th after the 2001 crisis, surpassed Denmark in 2002, Norway and Poland in 2003, and finally Austria in 2004. Among both OECD and world countries, the US reigned supreme with national income of $11.66 trillion.
