The joint Bahrain-Turkish Commercial Economic Forum was held at the Economic and Technical University in Ankara on August 5, organized by the Turkish Foreign Trade Undersecretariat in cooperation with the Turkish Chamber of Commerce.

During the Forum, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand the iron and steel trade between the two countries was signed by Yusuf Aslan, board chairman of the Society of Turkish Iron and Steel Producers, and by Bahraini Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr. Hassan Fakhro, who was part of a high-level Bahraini delegation led by King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Kahlifa. According to an official statement, thanks to the memorandum, both sides will take the opportunity to explore new dimensions for mutual cooperation and expanded trade and economic ties, and to improve the current, insufficient levels of iron and steel trade between the countries. The memorandum in question will be effective for five years.
