The leading Nordic distributor of steel and metals Tibnor AB, a subsidiary of Swedish steelmaker SSAB, has announced that it has supplied steel for iron ore wagons constructed by Kiruna Wagon, for Swedish-based iron ore producer LKAB.
Each wagon has an ore basket capable of carrying a load of 100 mt. The ore baskets are manufactured of laser-cut and laser hybrid welded steel from Tibnor. The steel selected for the ore baskets is hot rolled DX 355 MCE and DX 650 MCE produced by SSAB.
According to the company statement, 15 new train sets in total will be delivered for the iron ore railroad, with 68 wagons in each set. The final delivery to Kiruna Wagon is estimated to take place at the beginning of 2013.
