ThyssenKrupp to raise steel prices
German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp AG announced that it is going to increase prices of hot strip, sheet and coated products by €20/mt. The price increase will be valid from January 1, 2004. The company states that these price increases are the result of rising cost of ore, blast furnace coke, scrap and energy as well as freight rates. Furthermore, raw material costs are expected to rise in 2004 and due to latest collective bargaining agreement, there will be an increase in personnel costs. It is also emphasized that the appreciation of Euro against US Dollar only partly compensate the cost pressure.ThyssenKrupp to raise steel prices
