In July this year, the total throughput at China's main ports came to 770 million mt, rising by 14 percent year on year, according to China's Ministry of Transport. In particular, 240 million mt were shipped to the foreign markets, up 14.6 percent compared to the same period of 2010, while 530 million mt went to the domestic market, an increase of 13.8 percent year on year.
During the first seven months this year, the aggregate throughput at China's main ports reached 5.19 billion mt, up 13.4 percent year on year, including 1.57 billion mt shipped to the export markets, up 9.1 percent year on year, and 3.62 billion mt directed to the domestic market, up 15.4 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the first seven months, China's main ports handled 92.18 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs), an increase of 12.9 percent year on year. In July alone, the total throughput of TEUs at the ports was 14.41 million, up 12.5 percent year on year.
