In Tangshan city in China’s Hebei Province, comprehensive measures aimed at tackling air pollution during autumn and winter are drawing to a close, as announced by the Bureau of Ecology and Environment in Tangshan. The measures in question are scheduled to end on March 31. In the current year up to the end of February, Tangshan implemented five periods totaling 498 hours of emergency responses to tackle heavy air pollution, thereby reducing the concentration of atmospheric pollutants.

Meanwhile, in 2018 Tangshan eliminated 5.0025 million mt of steelmaking capacity, 2.98 million mt of iron-smelting capacity, 2.01 million mt of coal production capacity and 1.85 million mt of coking capacity. As for 2019, Tangshan will continue to implement measures to ensure good air quality, the Bureau of Ecology and Environment stated.
