Tangshan Guofeng starts production at new hot strip mill

Chinese steelmaker Tangshan Guofeng Iron & Steel Co. recently started production at its No. 2 1450 mm hot strip mill project which has a designed annual production capacity of 3 million mt.

The new production line can produce steel products with thicknesses ranging from 1.2 mm to 12.7 mm and widths ranging from 700 mm to 1,300 mm. Steel coils produced by the line have a maximum outside diameter of 2000 mm and maximum weight of 22.6 mt. Production plans target 1.95 million mt a year of base material for cold rolling and an annual 1.05 million mt of commercial grade hot rolled coil. The project took a total of 21 months to complete, from the design stage up to commissioning.

Tangshan Guofeng had launched production at its No. 1 1450 mm hot strip line was in June 2006.
