According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, Taiwan's iron and steel exports in September amounted to $1.35 billion, increasing by 24.8 percent, while its metal product exports totaled $843.7 million, up 15.9 percent, both compared to September 2009.
Meanwhile, in September, Taiwan increased its iron and steel imports by 11.9 percent to $960.8 million and its metal product imports came to $964.2 million, up 22.5 percent, both compared to the same month last year.
On the other hand, in the January-September period of this year Taiwan's iron and steel exports stood at $12.04 billion, increasing by 36.2 percent, while its metal product exports rose 40.5 percent to $7.07 billion, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
In the first nine months of this year, Taiwan's iron and steel imports were up 82.3 percent, totaling $9.24 billion, while its metal product imports stood at $8.81 billion, climbing by 70.3 percent, both compared to the January-September period of 2009.
