Taiwanese mill CSC invests to expand its plants

Taiwanese steel mill China Steel Corporation (CSC) plans to invest a further NTD2.87 billion ($85 million) for the expansion of its mills. In the first phase of expansion, NTD2 billion ($60 million) will be invested for increasing the capacity of No.4 and No.5 continuous slab plants. Other expansion activities will take place in No.1 BOF (Blast Oxygen Furnace) with the investment of NTD604 million ($17.8 million) and also wire rod plant's annual capacity will be increased to 105.000 tons, with the investment of NTD268 million ($8 million). The expansion project, which started to be conducted in July, is scheduled to be completed by December 2005.
