SunCoke anticipates 14 percent rise in coke production in 2012

Lisle, Illinois-based SunCoke Energy, Inc. reported Thursday that 2012 US coke production is expected to be approximately 1.09 million tons, an estimated increase of 135,000 tons, or 14 percent, versus the same period in 2011. The anticipated increase was driven by higher production at the Middletown, Ohio plant but was partly offset by lower production at the Indiana Harbor location. The Middletown facility began operations in late October 2011 and produced an estimated 155,000 tons of coke in Q3 2012.

SunCoke's total cokemaking capacity utilization rate was 103 percent in Q3, unchanged from Q3 2011.
