Strike action begins at Teck Resources coal mine in British Columbia

On August 7, Vancouver, Canada-based metallurgical coal and zinc producer Teck Resources Limited announced that the United Mineworkers of America, Local 7292 commenced strike action on Friday, August 6 at the company's Coal Mountain operation in southeast British Columbia, Canada.

The Union had served strike notice on Wednesday, August 4. The previous labor agreement at the mine expired on December 31, 2009. Production at the mine has been suspended.
