Steelmakers in Hebei reduce energy use in production

According to the Metallurgy Industry Association of Hebei Province, average standard coal consumption per metric ton of steel produced by 90 percent of steelmakers in the Chinese province has been reduced to 602.43 kg, down 1.51 kg year on year.

Meanwhile, recycling of blast furnace gas and coke oven gas by the steelmakers in question has risen to 97.68 percent and 99.69 percent, an increase of 1.07 percentage points and 0.92 percentage points year on year. In addition, water consumption per metric ton of steel produced has been cut by 0.14 mt, while the waste water discharge volume of the steelmakers in the current year is expected to indicate a decrease of 7.05 million mt compared to 2011.
