Steel workers in northwestern Germany go on strike
The strike which was started by the thousands of steel workers in northwestern Germany, is in relation with the wage dispute between the IG Metall, country's largest industrial union, and steel industry officials. The employers proposed last week 1.8% wage increment for around 85'000 steel and metal workers with an eighteen month agreement. However, IG Metall requires 4.5% increase and one year agreement. Union officials stated that more than 10'000 workers took place in the strike.
