Year-to-date steel shipments are up significantly at the Port of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Steel shipped over water is up 7 percent and steel shipped via rail or truck surged 34.5 percent over the same period last year, while dry bulk shipments such as limestone, slag and construction stone are up 10 percent year-over-year.
Shipments are expected to continue to increase as the port prepares to ship mining equipment produced by Bucyrus International Inc. and Joy Global.
