Steel consumption heats up in Thailand

The Federation of Thai Industry disclosed that the country's steel consumption rose from 10.96 million tons in 2003 to 12.7 million tons in 2004. An increase in long and flat products consumption contributed to the rise in overall consumption. Thailand's steel demand is expected to increase 10% per year during 2007-2010 as the country undertakes various infrastructure projects. Domestic demand could hit 27 million tons by 2020.
