South Africa’s base metal export value down 14.5 in April from March

According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in April of the current year the value of South Africa's exports of base metals and articles thereof totaled ZAR 9.8 billion ($768.66 million), decreasing by 14.5 percent from March. In the first four months of this year, South Africa's export value of base metals and articles thereof decreased by 7.8 percent year on year to ZAR 40.7 billion ($3.31 billion).
 
In April this year, the country's imports of base metals and articles thereof amounted to ZAR 4.75 billion ($383 million), down five percent from March, while in the first four months South African imports of base metals and articles thereof increased by 26.1 percent year on year, amounting to ZAR 20.3 billion ($1.65 billion).
