According to a media report in Turkish daily newspaper Dünya on September, Cansu Anılan, a founder of the Global Commercial Law Network, stated that some Israeli firms are demanding additional duties on Turkish steel products, though no official inquiries or investigations have been initiated in Israel regarding the issue. She said that the filings of these Israeli firms are still in the evaluation phase and commented, “If we step in and do something about this file during this very phase, we might be in time to take measures before it is too late.”

Some market sources told Dünya that there has not been any official announcement relating to these rumors, but, taking into consideration the trade conflicts escalating globally, we cannot say that such a possibility does not exist.

According to the statics reported by Dünya, in the January-August period of this year Turkey’s steel exports to Israel totaled $445.26 million in value, while in 2018 its steel exports to Israel were worth $750.11 and in 2017 they totaled $544 million.
