SMS Siemag to modernize slab caster at ThyssenKrupp’s Duisburg-Beeckerwerth plant

Germany-based plantmaker SMS Siemag has announced that it will modernize the continuous slab caster No. 1 at the Duisburg-Beeckerwerth steel plant of the German steel giant ThyssenKrupp.

The continuous caster produces slabs in a width of 1,000-2,150 mm and a thickness of 257 mm. The modernization works are scheduled to be completed by 2014, targeting to improve the slab quality and broaden the product range.
