SMS Demag receives an order worth €45 million

According to the statement released by German firm SMS Demag AG, the company has recently received an order from Russian TMK Group for the supply of two five-strand continuous bloom casters for the Seversky Tube Works (STW) and Taganrog Metallurgical Works (Tagmet). Moreover SMS also received an order for the modernization of the continuous caster at Volzhsky Pipe Plant of the TMK Group. The installation of the two five-strand continuous bloom casters and the modernization of the continuous caster at Volzhsky will reportedly cost €45 million. The new casters, which are expected to reduce costs and increase the quality of the products, will each have an annual capacity of 950'000 tons. The commissioning of the facilities is scheduled for 2006. The modernization of the continuous caster at Volzhsky is expected to increase production capacity to 650'000 tons.
