Sinosteel Midwest starts iron ore shipments to China

China's state-owned Sinosteel Corporation recently announced that its first carrier containing about 60,000 mt of iron ore set off from its Australian subsidiary Sinosteel Midwest Corporation at the end of 2009 and is expected to arrive in China on January 10, 2010.

In 2008 Sinosteel Corporation, whose main focus is on developing and processing metallurgical mineral resources, acquired Australian iron ore miner Midwest Corp. for over $900 million.
