Sims Group acquires US-based Global Investment Recovery

Global metal recycler Sims Group Limited (Sims) has announced the acquisition of Global Investment Recovery, Inc. (GIR), a leading US electronics-scrap recycler and asset recovery specialist based in Tampa, Florida.

Through the acquisition of GIR, which operates facilities in Florida, South Carolina, Nevada, Louisiana and Arizona, Sims will be able to increase its North American electronics recycling and asset recovery market presence by approximately 40 percent, consolidating its leading market position.

GIR's service offering extends to recycling, asset management services and customized reporting and certification.

Sims Group, whose core businesses are metal recycling and recycling solutions, has over 230 operations globally and, taking into consideration its latest acquisitions, is continuing full steam ahead with its geographical expansion strategy.
