The Economic and Information Committee (EIC) of China's Shanxi Province has announced that the province will step up reorganization activity in the local steel industry this summer.

According to the reorganization plans, local steelmakers Taiyuan Iron and Steel (TISCO) and Shougang Changzhi Iron and Steel are expected to restructure other steelmaking capacities in the province, reaching respective overall steel production capacities of 45 million mt and 15 million mt.

Specifically, Taiyuan Steel will integrate all the steelmaking capacities in four cities in the province, namely, Taiyuan, Lvliang, Linfen and Yuncheng, while Shougang Steel is to integrate steel facilities in three other cities in Shanxi, i.e., in Changzhi, Datong and Jincheng.

As the EIC stated, Taiyuan Steel is also expected to set up a steel base in Linfen which will have a designed steel production capacity of 10 million mt per year. By 2015, Taiyuan Steel is expected to complete the reorganization of Haixin Group in Yuncheng.
