Shanxi Province to eliminate 15 million mt of coal capacity in 2020

The Bureau of Energy of China’s Shanxi Province has announced that it plans to eliminate 15.0 million mt of coal production capacity in 2020.

As reported by SteelOrbis previously, in the 2016-19 period Shanxi Province shut down a total of 106 coal mines, eliminating 115.86 million mt of coal capacity. 

In the 2016-20 period, Shanxi Province will likely eliminate more than 130 million mt of coal capacity.

By the end of 2020, Shanxi Province will have no more than 1,200 mining and washing coal enterprises, with a washing ability of 1.8 billion mt per year.
