According to a document entitled ‘Implementation of Steel Industry Restructuring in Shanxi Province' published by the authorities in China's Shanxi Province, reorganization of the steel industry in the province up to 2015 will focus on the consolidation of steel production around two local steelmakers, namely, Taiyuan Iron & Steel (TISCO) and Shougang Changzhi Iron & Steel.

According to the document, TISCO will restructure Meijin Iron & Steel, Antai Iron & Steel and other companies located in the provincial capital city of Taiyuan, while it will also restructure Zhongyu Iron & Steel and and other companies located in the city of Linfen. In 2015, TISCO is expected to complete the restructuring of Haixin Iron & Steel and other companies located in the Yuncheng area, while also restructuring steelmakers in the Lvliang area.

Accordingly, by 2015 TISCO will have built up an annual output capacity of 40 million mt, with sales revenues per year reaching RMB 200 billion ($30 billion), and is thus expected to rank among the top eight Chinese steelmakers. Meanwhile, Shougang Changzhi Iron & Steel will have increased its annual steel output capacity to 10 million mt by 2015.
