Saudi Steel Pipe begins commercial production of 20 inch OCTG pipes

Saudi Arabia-based Saudi Steel Pipe (SSP) has announced that it started commercial production of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) with a diameter of 20 inches on Sunday, June 29, after receiving an order from Saudi Aramco, the biggest international oil company. SSP stated that the financial impact of this order will be reflected in its results for the third quarter of the current year.
 
SSP also stated that 90 percent of the pipe coating project has been completed and pilot production will begin in the third quarter and commercial production will begin in the fourth quarter. This new plant will be able to coat pipes with diameters up to 30 inches.
 
The company's plant project to produce steel pipes up to eight inches will come into commercial production in the first quarter of 2015.
