S. Korea’s auto sales jump in July

South Korean automakers reported that their July sales increased 25.9 percent year on year thanks to an increase in exports. Hyundai, Kia Motors and three other automakers had combined overseas and domestic sales of 436'993 units in July. South Korea's automotive exports rose 27.7 percent to 335'403 units in July, while domestic sales increased 20.2 percent to 101'950 units. South Korea's largest automaker, Hyundai, said its sales rose 11.4 percent year on year to 207'995 units last month. The company's exports increased 9.2 percent to 155'593 units and its domestic sales rose 18.8 percent to 52'402 units. Kia Motors, South Korea's second-largest automaker, reported that its sales jumped 46.9 percent year on year to 114'406 units. The company's exports soared 53.6 percent to 90'221 units and its domestic sales increased 26.5 percent to 24'185 units.
