S. Korean steel exports to Japan up in 2004

South Korean steel exports to Japan rose 18% year-on-year to 2.36 million tons in 2004 due to a decline in Japanese domestic steel production. Expectations of a slowdown in China's steel imports prompted South Korean steelmakers to seek out other buyers, such as Japan.
