Russia gains on metal exports
Russia's raw material and steel exports showed a sound increase through the first seven months of the year. According to the Russian Federal Customs Service, Russia saw a five percent year on year increase in its iron ore exports, reaching 10.22 million metric tons through January-July 2005. Meanwhile, the trade value of the exports jumped 220 percent to $543.7 million. Russia's coal exports increased 11.3 percent year on year to 42.8 million metric tons during the same period. The trade value of the coal exports increased 45 percent to $2.03 billion. Meanwhile, Russia's ferrous metal exports in the first seven months reached 29.38 million metric tons with $11.45 billion trade value, up 39.4 percent year on year. Among the total, the exports of semi-finished iron and non-alloyed steel products increased 20.7 percent year on year to 8.5 million metric tons. Ferro alloy exports increased 41 percent to 491'100 metric tons. Russia's Steel pipe exports reached 557'000 metric tons with $591.3 million trade value.Russia gains on metal exports
