The Russian government has decided to cancel the five percent duty on imports of cold rolled stainless steel products of less that 600 mm in width, of thicknesses greater than 0.35 mm but less than 3 mm, and containing less than 2.5 percent nickel, used in the manufacture of motor vehicles and their parts (HS Code - 7220 20 490 1).
The government decision No. 10 of January 9, 2009, becomes effective one month after its official publication.
Meanwhile, the government has decided that cold rolled steel products under HS Codes 7220 20 490 9 and 7220 20 890 0 will be imported with a five percent duty.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, on December 19, 2008, the Russian government canceled the five percent duty on certain other types of cold rolled steel products, in order to support domestic manufacturers of cars and other motor vehicles.
