Recycled emissions to energize Handan
Chinese state-owned steel maker Handan Iron & Steel plans to build a blast furnace-gas fired gas turbine combined-cycle power generating plant at its existing steel mill in the city of Handan in China's Hebei province. The system will allow the company to use exhaust gas from its blast furnaces to meet a part of its own electricity needs. The system is planned to be operational in August 2006. Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd (MHI) will provide the system to Handan. This is the fourth order MHI received from China. MHI received orders for similar systems from Angang Group International Trade Corporation and Jiangsu Shagang Group Company last year and from Maanshan Iron & Steel in January of this year. MHI intends to further expand its GTCC plant marketing activities to China's other iron and steel manufacturers.Recycled emissions to energize Handan
