Qatar Steel inks deal to import iron ore pellets

High quality rebar and billet producer Qatar Steel and US-based Cargill International SA have signed a long-term Contract of Affreightment (COA) for the transportation of around 7.5 million mt of iron ore pellets from Brazilian and Swedish ports to the southern Qatari port of Mesaieed.

In a statement regarding the contract, Qatar Steel said that the deal in question would give Qatar Steel stability in terms of freight costs for its basic raw material in the current volatile situation.

Cargill is an international provider of food, agriculture and risk management products and services.
