UK-based plantmaker Primetals Technologies has announced that it will supply three surface inspection systems to ArcelorMittal Liège, Belgian subsidiary of Luxembourg-headquartered global steel giant ArcelorMittal. The systems will be installed on two continuous galvanizing lines and a continuous pickling line of the company and are scheduled to be commissioned by spring of the current year.

Primetals stated that, with the new surface inspection systems, ArcelorMittal Liège will improve quality control which will optimize production costs and maintenance activities. The surface inspection system is able to detect surface defects on the top and bottom sides of the strip during production. In addition, the surface inspection system installation for the pickling line will be equipped with an anti-corrosion system to protect the equipment from the pickling environment.

ArcelorMittal Liège operates a cold rolling mill and processing lines at several locations in the Liège area. Its main products are cold rolled coils, galvanized and electro-galvanized coil, organic coated coils and tinplate.
