POSCO Vietnam Ltd., Co., Vietnamese subsidiary of South Korean steel giant POSCO, has said that it is set to start a trial run at its new rolling mill at Ba Ria Vung Tau in southern Vietnam.
According to the company, the plant in question, on which construction commenced in August 2007 with an overall investment of US$1.12 billion, is scheduled to turn out its first 40,000 mt of cold rolled steel in August 2009.
In addition, the project's first phase for an annual capacity of 1.4 million mt of rolled steel products and which will cost an investment of US$366 million will commence commercial production in late September this year.
POSCO Vietnam plans to put its hot rolling mill into operation in 2011.
