POSCO introduces eco-friendly management system

South Korean steel giant POSCO will establish an eco-friendly management system in order to be a global leader in low-carbon green growth.

The company held a ‘POSCO Family Global Eco-Friendly Management Declaration' event on December 27 at POSCO Center in Seoul, with attendance of South Korean Minister of Environment Lee Man-Ui and POSCO CEO Chung Joon-Yang, as well as executives from POSCO's affiliates and partner companies.

Keeping the environment at the core of all management strategies, POSCO revealed its plan to build an eco-friendly management system for the entire POSCO family to minimize emission of pollutants, enhance eco-efficiency, lead low-carbon green growth, and achieve eco-management performance.

Green POSCO Certified Partner system revealed
 
A POSCO Eco-Friendly Management Council headed by CEO Chung Joon-Yang is to be inaugurated, which will publish a carbon report and sustainability report. It will also build an environmental information system to share environmental performance, policy information, and examples of successful environmental improvement to strengthen the communication lines between POSCO's affiliates in the country and around the world, SME partner companies, and outsourcing partners.

In addition, POSCO will introduce the ‘Green POSCO Certified Partner' system for small and medium enterprises (SME) and outsourcing partner companies to further boost the level of eco-friendly management. Certified outsourcing and SME partner companies will receive preferential benefits when doing business with POSCO and its affiliates.
