Plans to increase production at Ispat Annaba

A total of $132.5 million will be invested to the Algerian integrated steel producer Ispat Annaba, in the coming couple of years, according to industry reports. With such investments, the mill's production capacity will be lifted to 1.75 million ton per year by the end of 2004. The plans also include certain environmental improvements. Blast furnace no 2, which is currently running idle will be put back into production by 2004 and this will increase the pig iron production by 50'000 tons per month. The furnace will produce 600'000 tons annually. The second blast furnace will also be able to cast slabs.
