In the January-September period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output of 51 major shipbuilding enterprises in China amounted to 23.38 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 13.5 percent year on year, as announced by the China Association of the National Shipbuilding Industry (CANSI). In the given period, new ship orders of the 51 major shipbuilding enterprises amounted to 16.94 million dwt, increasing by 3.1 percent year on year. As of the end of September, ship orders on the books of the shipbuilding enterprises in question totaled 107.08 million dwt, down 18.3 percent year on year.
In the January-September period of the current year, the aggregate shipbuilding output for export orders of the 51 major shipbuilding enterprises in China totaled 21.44 million dead weight tons (dwt), down 9.6 percent year on year. Meanwhile, new ship export orders of the shipbuilding enterprises in the period in question amounted to 14.22 million dwt, increasing by 0.8 percent year on year. As of the end of September, ship export orders on the books of the 51major shipbuilding enterprises totaled 100.76 million dwt, down 18.7 percent year on year.
