OMK to construct mill-500 by 2010

United Metallurgical Company (OMK), one of the leading Russian pipe producers, has announced that the company will construct the mill-500 on production of wide plate, with a total annual capacity of 1.2 million tons, at Chusovoy Steel Works. The plates to be produced at the new mill would be used for production of straight seam pipes with diameter of up to 1,420 mm. The construction of the mill-500 is planned to be started in the first quarter of 2007 and completed by 2010. Nowadays, OMK is Russia's and the CIS's only producer of the straight seam pipes with diameter of up to 1,420 mm. With the introduction of the mill-500, OMK would be able to satisfy its needs in wide plates used for production of straight seam pipes with diameter of up to 1,420 mm.
