Emerging Australian iron ore company BC Iron Limited (BC Iron) has announced that the first key construction and services contracts have been awarded for the Nullagine iron ore JV, an equal share joint venture with Fortescue Metals Group in Western Australia's east Pilbara region, as development activities gather momentum.
According to a company press release, Western Australian company Complete Portables has been awarded the construction of the ‘Stage I', which is a 60-man accommodation camp, including camp design, construction and delivery/set-up.
In addition, a five-year ore haulage transport contract has been awarded to Western Australian transport and logistics company Mitchell West.
BC Iron has also struck agreements with pastoralists clearing the way towards access over the entire project area and infrastructure corridor.
The total value of the contracts recently awarded falls within the feasibility study estimates.
The JV is targeting production of 3 million mt of high quality direct shipping ore, starting production by the end of 2010.
