New Ukrainian steelmaking facilities to be commissioned in 2011

In 2011, Ukraine is expected to commission new steelmaking facilities. Specifically, Dneprovsky Iron and Steel Works named after F. Dzerzhinsky (DMKD), a subsidiary of the Ukrainian steelmaker Industrial Union of Donbass (ISD), plans to commission its new 1.7 million mt capacity continuous billet caster No. 3 in January-February 2011.

In addition, in Q4 2011, the Ukrainian pipe producer Interpipe Corporation (Interpipe) plans the commissioning of its new electric steelmaking plant, which will be capable of producing 1.32 million mt of round billets and blooms per annum.

Meanwhile, by the end of 2011, ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, Ukraine-based subsidiary of the world's largest integrated metals and mining company ArcelorMittal, plans to start up its 1.2 million mt capacity first continuous billet caster and ladle furnace.
