New steel plant Ajabshir Steel commissioned in northwestern Iran

On July 14, Iranian President Mahmood Ahmadinejad formally inaugurated a new Iranian steelmaking plant called Ajabshir Steel which has a melt shop with an annual capacity of 500,000 mt.
 
Ajabshir Steel, which will produce steel billets, is a subsidiary of Gostaresh Foolad Tabriz, one of the largest privately-owned Iranian companies and which owns a number of rolling mills, melt shops, and galvanizing and pipe producing facilities. Ajabshir Steel is located in the province of East Azarbaijan in northwestern Iran.
