New Process Steel to invest $7.5 million in Mississippi plant expansion

According to local news reports, Dallas, Texas-based steel processor and distributor New Process Steel will expand its Columbus, Mississippi facility, investing $7.5 million and hiring 50 workers. The expansion will add 100,000 square feet to the company’s facility, which is adjacent to a Steel Dynamics mill, and more than double its current size.
 
Construction is scheduled to begin this summer. The state of Mississippi will pay $750,000 for an access road and loan $641,000 to the county for a new rail spur.
