As reported by the German Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the total price-adjusted value of orders received by building construction and civil and underground engineering enterprises in Germany decreased by 0.7 percent in June this year from the same month of the previous year.
In June, building construction demand increased by 3.6 percent, while demand in civil and underground engineering was up by five percent, both on year-on-year basis. The total turnover in building construction amounted in June 2011 to around €7.9 billion.
Meanwhile, in the first six months of 2011 the total price-adjusted value of orders in the construction industry increased by 4.2 percent over the corresponding period last year. During the January-June period of 2011 the total turnover of the construction industry amounted to approximately €38.2 billion, with an increase of 15.3 percent over the level of the first six months of 2010.
