NBS: China’s crude steel output up 6.6 percent in 2018

In 2018, China produced 771.05 million mt of pig iron, up 3.0 percent year on year, while also producing 928.62 million mt of crude steel and 1.10552 billion mt of finished steel, rising by 6.6 percent and 8.5 percent year on year, respectively, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on January 21. 

In December alone, China produced 63.20 million mt of pig iron, up 9.4 percent year on year, while also producing 76.12 million mt of crude steel and 93.65 million mt of finished steel, increasing by 8.2 percent and 9.1 percent year on year, respectively.
