Typhoon Jebi hit Japan on Tuesday, September 4, the strongest typhoon to hit the country’s mainland in 25 years, according to Japan’s Meteorological Agency.

Due to flooding, power outages, debris and destruction of roads, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency expects for some businesses to be affected as employees work through personal challenges, production plants assess damage to return to normal operations, and logistics are reinstated. The Osaka region is a major center for steel companies and other large manufacturing entities. Typhoon Jebi hit some regions that were affected two weeks ago by Typhoon Cimaron.

Additionally, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake also hit in the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido this week. Steel is one of Hokkaido’s main industries.
