Motor vehicles in China increase to 348 million units by end of 2019

32.14 million new motor vehicles were registered in China in 2019, with the total number of motor vehicles in the country thus increasing to 348 million units by the end of the year, according to figures issued by China’s Ministry of Public Security (MPS).

In particular, as of the end of the year the number of small vehicles in China reached 260 million units, up 8.83 percent year on year. Moreover, the number of small privately-owned passenger cars in China reached 207 million mt, exceeding 200 million mt for the first time.

In particular, as of the end of 2019, the number of alternative fuel vehicles in China amounted to 3.81 million units, up by 1.2 million units or 46.05 percent year on year.
