The Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has introduced new international standards for its flat steel production, in order to increase its quality, demand and competitiveness.

The new standards include EN 10130:2006 Cold rolled low carbon steel flat products for cold forming, JIS G 3141:2005 Cold reduced carbon steel sheets and strips, and TL 1550 non-coated surface-treated steel sheets and strips with a defined yield stress for cold forming, the latter being the standard of the automobile producer Volkswagen AG.

By manufacturing flats in accordance with international standards of quality, MMK will be able to increase its competitiveness in delivering cold rolled products to the world's leading automobile corporations and to strengthen its market positions.
