South African steel producer Mittal Steel South Africa would increase certain steel prices both in June and July, said the company's spokesperson Tami Didiza. Mittal Steel South Africa's galvanized steel prices increased 9 percent and color coated steel 6 percent on Thursday. On July 1, galvanized steel prices would increase again 15 percent and color coated steel 8 percent, Didiza said. Furthermore, on July 1, hot rolled coil prices are expected to increase 5 percent, cold rolled coils 4 percent and plates 12 percent. Zinc prices, which tripled over the past few months, are indicated as the key reason of price increases.
