Workers at Shougang Hierro Peru have ended the strike that put a stop to the firm's operations for ten days, the Peru's Labor Ministry announced Thursday.

"After ten days of enduring an indefinite strike, more than 1,000 Shougang Peru workers ended the measure of power as the labor issue was solved," said the Ministry.

Workers were fighting for higher salary increments and in the end accepted a counter offer put forth by the government.
Shougang Hierro Peru, a unit of the Shougang Group SGANG.UL of China, is Peru's only iron ore and producer, with iron ore output totaling 5.2 million mt last year.
