Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced its consolidated financial results for the January-September period of 2012. Accordingly, Mechel recorded a net loss of $550.094 million in the first nine months this year, against a net profit of $526.730 million in the same period last year.
The net revenue of the company for the period in question amounted to $8.751 billion, decreasing by nine percent compared to the same period of the previous year. The company's operating loss in January-September this year amounted to $29.868 million, compared to an operating income of $1.454 billion in the same period last year. The consolidated adjusted EBITDA in the first nine months this year decreased by 34.1 percent to $1.224 billion, compared to $1.857 billion in the corresponding period of 2011.
Mechel's mining segment revenue from external customers in the first nine months of the current year totaled $2.591 billion, down 15.8 percent, while its steel segment revenue from external customers in the same period amounted to $5.246 billion, down 6.5 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
