Manganese ore exports via Port Hedland continue to fall in August

In August this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 123,050 metric tons, decreasing 5.9 percent compared to the previous month and down 47.9 percent compared to the same month last year, according to Port Hedland Port Authority.

According to the released information, manganese ore shipments made from Port Hedland to China amounted to 69,550 metric tons in August, increasing by 21.4 percent as compared to July and down 70.5 percent year on year.

India was the second biggest export destination for manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland in August with shipments amounting to 53,500 metric tons in August, According to the port authority, no manganese ore shipments from Port Hedland to India had been recorded in July this year, nor in August last year.

Port Hedland handles production from mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
